We're All Kinds of Different
by MATTHEW HAMELIN and Jayson Stewart
There is no shortage of enjoyment when listening to THE CREEPSHOW, the brilliant psychobilly brawler punk band from Burlington, Ontario.
Where did this band come from and why haven’t we heard of them before?
Since we got their newest album “They All Fall Down”, from Stomp Records, we’ve been playing the disc nonstop and had to find out more about the band. The songs on the album, including the title track “They All Fall Down”, “Last Chance”, and “Road To Nowhere” are catchy, tightly woven, gritty and a lot of fun.
The Creepshow’s style rings of a selection of music genres ranging from punk to passion to old time rock ‘n roll...there’s a lot of diversity on They All Fall Down, opening the band up to a broad audience. The passion they put into their music is tremendous resulting in high quality songs you hum for days.
They started off performing in dive bars across Toronto back in 2005 but since then they’ve conquered 25 countries worldwide! Their first album , Sell your Soul, was an instant hit and they’ve been rising to the top ever since. Almost right after their album hit shelves they started to tour across Canada, the USA and Europe.
T
he lead vocalist and guitarist, Sarah “Sin” Blackwood, packs a powerful punch in attitude, tone and range. To think she wasn’t the original singer, having taken over for her sister, Jen “Hellcat” Blackwood, who left the band in 2007 when she got pregnant! Other band members include Sean “Sickboy” McNab, who plays upright bass and The Reverend McGinty on keys. The Creepshow is a tight band but next to the vocals, the drummer, Matt Pomade, stands out as being an ace in the group’s deck.
The Creepshow is taking a break from touring but will be hitting some occasion shows this winter. Their constant touring has been called a borderline obsessive compulsive behaviour by some members of the band but it seems like they’re extremely passionate about their work and enjoy every bit of it.
In my opinion, the Creepshow is an incredible newish band with a great new outlook on alternative rock, and I’m sure that the fans who catch their live shows will agree. I haven’t been following them for very long, but now that I’ve caught the bug, I’ve fallen in love with their music and hope to be hearing great new hits from them for a great time to come.
Find them on YOUTUBE, FACEBOOK, MYSPACE, TWITTER and THEIR OFFICIAL WEBSITE.

Lora Cecchini wrote this in a message: "I had the wicked good luck of checking out The Creepshow at Subterranean in Chicago around three years ago when they opened up for the Koffin Kats. Since then, I’ve seen them at least three more times. If you think there albums are awesome, you have to check them out LIVE. They are now my favourite band. It’s pretty damn cool watching their shows get bigger and bigger. I’ve never seen a band more deserving of recognition for kicking it on stage! Can’t wait for their next tour. If it ain’t soon, might just make a point of coming up to one of their Canadian shows. THAT is how rockin their they are. \m/"
