Hey Mr. Stew, I have an interesting idea for a show. Native people here in Sudbury tend to be split up into two groups; the students and other every day people like them, or the Natives that we see on the street. The latter is the one that most Natives are identified with. I want to do a show exploring the negativism Native people are presented with and get a better understanding of stereotypes and racism in today's schools.

Morgan, that sounds like an incredible idea. We're doing things differently with the staff in that we have specific departments of reporters. This would fall under the Cultures beat. Do you have a thought that this would be a single expose or a series of shows? It would be interesting to investigate the negative stereotypes of 1) drunks, 2) youth and gangs, 3) the unemployed, 4) violent prone folk. What do you think?

It would probably be like a single expose type of thing. Like that video from the school film festival about the girl and her Metis Grandmother. I think the biggest stereotypical issue that needs to be addressed is drunks and the unemployed. I've noticed that people up here in Sudbury tend to assume that most Natives are either one of the two. It's interesting, because even the students and the native students seperate eachother. They do it in Esponola Highschool too, so it's a topic you could touch on.

I might be able to start it sometime in January I think. I've got alot of stuff to do here in sudbury. Maybe you could give it to a student like Wade or something. But I will see if I can't get it done by January.
